Our Speakers

Chris is a Professor in Veterinary Virology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago. He is a qualified veterinary surgeon, has a PhD in viral immunopathology and has many years research experience working predominantly on vector-borne viral and protozoal diseases. Chris has worked in many countries around the world including Mexico, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. He took up the post at the University of the West Indies in early 2012 and is currently running a One Health – based research programme.

 

From 2014-2017 Chris was leading a large European Union funded project promoting One Health across the Caribbean region called “One Health One Caribbean One Love”.

 

He has recently received the UWI Vice Chancellor award for research, is currently a member of the UWI Covid-19 taskforce and is leading a Climate Change and Health leaders fellowship program.
